Scene: Outside the reef village. Lulu and his class are taking a field trip.
Ella: In conclusion, seaweed prefers warm and shallow water and reaches maturity at the end of the summer.
Lulu: Excellent report, Ella. Congratulations. Children, it's time to go back to the reef.
(Everyone, except Ricky and Pipo, leave)
Ricky: Huh?
Pipo: Hmm?
Ricky: Well, what's wrong? You coming?
Pipo: Shh! Didn't you hear that?
(A sobbing is heard)
Ricky: Uh... huh?
(Ricky, Ella, and Annabel all follow Pipo)
Pipo: Hmm? (He notices Eliot crying near a large rock) Huh? Hey, are you all right?
Eliot: Mommy? (swims to Pipo)
Pipo: Huh? What? Me? No. Uh... where is your mommy?
Eliot: I--I--
Ricky, Ella, and Annabel: Aww!
Eliot: I don't know!
Ella: Oh. Hello. My name is Ella. What's yours?
Eliot: Eliot, and I'm lost.
Annabel: Oh, don't worry. That happens to me all the time.
Ricky: We'll help you find your way. Where are you from?
Eliot: The big aquarium.
Annabel: Whoa, that's far! Say there, you really are lost.
Ella: Annabel!
Eliot: I was playing in the pipes, and I came out of the aquarium without meaning to.
(Flashback begins. Eliot is seen swimming out of the pipe and gets out of the aquarium)
Eliot: Hmm?
Eliot: (narrating) I wanted to go back in, but...
Eliot: Yeah.
Eliot: (narrating) Two big creatures blocked my way. (Eliot from the flashback gasps when he sees two sharks) They were enormous and had teeth like I'd never seen before.
(Eliot swims as fast as possible away from the sharks and hides behind the large rock in the seaweed forest)
Eliot: Mommy? Mommy!
(Flashback ends)
Eliot: And I haven't eaten anything for days.
Ella: Ohh, poor thing.
(Above the rock, Lulu was listening to Eliot's story the whole time)
Lulu: My, what a story! I, uh... We won't let you down, little one. Come and refresh yourself with us back at the reef. (Later, Eliot is with Lulu and his class near the passageways to the reef village) All right, everybody's here. We can go now.
(Eliot swims to the passageways)
Ricky: Are you all right, Eliot? You okay? There's nothing to be afraid of here, you know.
(The Rockfish swim by and laugh)
Crudd: Hey, new kid. Will you speed it up? We don't have all day. Hey! I'm talkin' to you!
(Crudd pushes Eliot, causing him to swim away in fear)
Eliot: Aaaah!
(Ricky, Ella, Pipo, and Annabel all follow Eliot. Lulu angrily growls at Crudd, causing him to do a nervous grin. The four kids are following Eliot to Leonard's aquarium)
Ricky: Go on ahead, Pipo! Don't wait up for us! (Ella pants) We're right behind you.
Pipo: Huh? (notices Eliot is inside Leonard's aquarium and he's looking up) Ohh. (gets inside the aquarium) What are you doing?
Eliot: Well, I'm waiting for--
Pipo: (swims out of the aquarium) Shh! Not so loud.
Eliot: I'm waiting for the food to fall from the sky like back at the aquarium.
Ella: Well, here, that's not the way it happens. Follow us to the reef and we'll give you something to eat.
Eliot: No! I feel a whole lot safer right here.
(A rumble is heard)
Ricky, Ella, and Pipo: Huh?
(Leonard comes out of hiding)
'Leonard: What in the world is that puny, little--
(Ricky, Ella, and Pipo all try to Eliot about Leonard)
Eliot: Outside it's far too dangerous and unpleasant. Here it's calm, comfortable. And... (bumps into Leonard) whoa!
Leonard: And this is my aquarium, little guy! I'm gonna pulverize you.
Ricky: Huh? (swims to the hole from the aquarium glass) Eliot, quick! This way!
(Leonard growls as he hits his pincers to the ground, but Eliot escapes just in time)
The kids: Huh?
Pipo: Wow. It's amazing how fast you swim.
Leonard: And don't you ever come back! This here is private property, you hear me?
(The kids all swim back to the passageway)
Ella: There's nothing to be afraid of. We're right here.
Pipo: Mm-hmm.
Ella: Uh-huh.
(Eliot groans, but he swims through the passageways)
Scene: Reef village. The kids all arrive at the reef
Eliot: Oh, whoa! Whoa!
School of powder-blue tang: Hello, Shelly! (Shelly waves at them)
Eliot: Huh? Whoa. (sees two crabs playing the coin toss) This reminds me of the big aquarium. (a school of Moorish idols swims by) Ohh.
(Near the palaver tree, the kids are explaining to Sammy about Eliot)
Sammy: Of course we'll help you find your way back to your mother. But it's a very dangerous journey, so... (Eliot groans) So you'll have to learn some of the basics of living in the wild.
Ella: I'd be glad to help Eliot.
Ricky: Me, too!
Pipo: Hey, I'm the one who found him, so I get to help him first.
Sammy: Hey there, Eliot. Looks like you found yourself some new friends.
(Somewhere in the village, Eliot is starting his training to live in the wild. Annabel is holding a pink seaweed while Ella is holding a brown seaweed)
Ricky: First lesson, Eliot-- learning to nourish yourself on your own.
Pipo: Thankfully, there's plenty of great stuff to eat around here in the ocean.
Ella: Which one of these two seaweeds do you think is edible?
Eliot: Hmm... that one! (points at the pink seaweed)
Ella: Wrong answer. If you ate that you'd get really sick.
(Pipo grabs onto the brown seaweed)
Eliot: Really? In my aquarium, the best-tasting stuff is that color.
Ella: Here, in nature, when something is a little too flashy like this, it's never a good sign. In fact, normally it signifies danger. (grabs a brown seaweed from Pipo) Taste this instead. It's delicious.
(Eliot sniffs and chomps on the brown seaweed)
Eliot: Mmm! Good.
Pipo: Ohh.
Eliot: It's... excellent!
(Pipo is about to eat the last brown seaweed, but Eliot grabs it away)
Pipo: Uh, I told you so.
Ella: So, shall we continue?
(Ella continues to teach Eliot about the different color of seaweed and which one is edible to eat. After Eliot correctly answers the brown color, he and Ella swim away. Pipo is about to grab a seaweed, but Annabel stops him. Ella shows Eliot to seaweeds; one is brown and one is pink. Eliot points at the brown seaweed correctly and Ella gives a piece of it to him)
Pipo: Heh.
(Pipo is about to eat the seaweed, but Annabel arrives and ate it all. The kids all swim to Albert's den)
Ricky: Next lesson. Predators.
Eliot: Hmm?
(Albert arrives, causing Eliot to scream in fear and swims away)
Albert: Ohh.
Pipo: Wait up, Eliot! Let us explain! (Eliot hides between two rocks and pants, but Pipo follows him) Don't worry. That shark, he's our friend. It's just for the lesson. We'll do everything we can to try and help you find your mother. But you have to trust us, you know? (sighs)
Eliot: Yeah.
(Pipo and Eliot both swim back to the den)
Albert: Eliot. (Eliot is about to swim away again, but Annabel grabs him) I'm going to teach you what I know about sharks.
Eliot: Yes, s-sir.
Albert: We sharks detect our prey thanks to sound and movement.
Alpha: He hears pretty well, but he can hardly see anything. Thankfully, I'm here to guide him.
Ricky: So, if you don't talk and you don't move, or only super-slowly, you'll be able to escape from sharks. Watch this. (winks at Annabel)
(Annabel swims to Albert)
Albert: So, where are you? Oh, it's not easy. Anybody there?
Ricky: (laughs) Your turn, Eliot.
Eliot: Huh? (swims fast in front of Albert) Whoa!
Albert: Aha! Saw you!
(Eliot swims back to his friends)
Eliot: I'm too much of a scaredy-cat. I'll never be able to.
Ella: Yes, you will. Here's the secret to control your fear. (whispers to Eliot) Go on, try it!
Eliot: Mm-hmm. (sighs)
(Eliot swims in front of Albert and he breathes heavily. He swims slowly past Albert)
Ella: Yay! Way to go Eliot!
Eliot: I'm gonna see my mommy again!
Scene: Outside the reef village. Sammy is leading the kids back to the Tank
Sammy: I'm proud of you, children. You've been a great help to Eliot. And you--you can be proud of yourself. You've learned a great deal.
Eliot: It's all thanks to my new pals. (The group all laugh) Say, are we still a long way from the aquarium?
Sammy: We're getting there. Be patient.
Eliot: (sees a school of sardines forming a sphere) Whoa. (swims in front of the sardines) Oh! Wow! (The sardines all swim away and scream when they see two barracudas. Eliot shivers in fear, but he calms down)
Ella's voice: You breathe nice and slow, and close your eyes, and imagine you're in the happiest place on Earth. It works like magic.
Barracuda: Huh?
Ella: Eliot! Those aren't sharks! They see you perfectly well! Swim away!
(Eliot screams as he swims as fast as possible away from the barracudas. They chase him into a cave)
Sammy: Hey there!
Ella: Instead of a skimpy little fish, wouldn't you prefer to savor some tasty turtle?
Annabel: And a little octopus for dessert?
(The barracudas growl as they chase after Sammy and the kids)
Sammy: Aaah!
Eliot: Wha--
Pipo: Follow me. You can't stay here.
Scene: The shark's den. Sammy and the kids try to swim past it, but the barracudas block their ways
Pipo: They're stuck. We have to get help from the village.
Eliot: We don't have time.
Pipo: We'll have to really hurry. We both know how to swim super-fast.
Eliot: Huh? That's true. We swim a whole lot faster than they do. (sees a cave) Follow me. Let's go save our friends. They need our help.
(Pipo and Eliot swim past Sammy, the kids, and the barracudas)
Sammy: Huh?
(The barracudas are growling at them. Sammy and the kids all gasp when they see Eliot swims to a cave where a shark is sleeping inside)
Pipo: Are you... sure?
Eliot: Yeah. It's your turn to trust me.
Pipo: Huh?
(Eliot pushes the shark inside the cave)
Shark: Ouch!
Eliot: You keep the other one busy. (gasps) Pblblblblbl!
Shark 2: (wakes up) Huh?
(Four sharks have awake. Pipo and Eliot bump into each other after waking them up, but they both swim together to the barracudas)
Eliot: Yah! Yah!
(The barracudas both growl as they follow Eliot while Pipo is being chased by the sharks. Eventually, the two fish trick them into making them bump into each other inside the fish skeleton, knocking all of them out)
Eliot and Pipo: Yeah!
Annabel: Ha ha!
Sammy: Hurry, children, they're going to wake up soon.
Scene: Near the Tank.
Pipo: Your idea was fantastic. We'll call that an Eliot Knockout.
Ricky: That's true. It was worthy of a true wild fish.
Sammy: And an exceptional wild fish at that. You've shown a lot of ingenuity and courage. Bravo, Eliot.
The kids: Yay! (they all notice that they're almost to the Tank) Huh?
Eliot: I think from here on, I've got to go on my own.
Pipo: Are you sure?
Eliot: Yes. It'll be dark soon, and you guys have a long way to go back to the reef.
Sammy: At the speed you swim, you'll be there in no time at all.
Eliot: Thanks for everything.
Pipo: Will you come back?
Eliot: Yes. And we'll race together. Ha ha ha! (swims to the Tank)
(The kids all laugh in amusement)
