(Ricky fights a giant squid, outside the reef village. He then pokes the squid on the eye, knocking the squid out)
Ricky: Easy!
Rita: (voice heard) Ricky? Ricky?
Ricky: Huh?

Rita: Come on, wake up, you'll be late for school.
Ricky: You should've seen it, Grandma. I was being chased by a giant squid, and I wasn't even scared!
Rita: Oh, I told your grandpa not to tell you his stories before bedtime. They only give you nightmares.
Ricky: But it wasn't a nightmare. It was great! Me, too, I want to go into the bottomless rift and confront terrifying giant monsters for real! Like Grandpa and Sammy.
Rita: But they didn't have a choice. And they were much older than you.

Ray: Hey, good morning, Ella. Want some jellyfish for breakfast?
Ella: Ugh. No, thanks, Ray, I'm good.
Ricky: (to Rita) But I already know how to do lots of stuff like grownups.
Rita: Like waking up all by yourself?
Ricky: (sighs) Very funny.
Ella: (to Ricky) Hey there, big guy. (giggles)
(Rita grabs Ricky)
Ricky: Oh! Grandma! (Rita kisses Ricky) Stop it!
Rita: Now, be good. (Ricky swims away and heads to the shell school)
(Later, Ricky is seen talking to Ella about his dream)
Ricky: So I dodged his tentacles with a jump to the left. And then I--
(Pipo arrives in the scene)
Pipo: Hi there, Ricky. Hey there, Ella. You good?
Ricky: Yeah, yeah. So, as I was saying, I dodged his--
(Annabel arrives in the scene)
Annabel: Hi there, pals!
Ricky: Hi. So I jumped to the left--
Annabel: What are you talking about?
Ella: Ricky's telling me about how he fought against a scary giant squid.
Pipo: What? When did this happen to you?
Ricky: Well, in fact, it was a dream, but--
(Ella, Pipo, and Annabel all laugh in amusement)
Ella: Ha ha ha! Wow! A dream, impressive.
Ricky: Go ahead and laugh. I still would've done the same if it was real.
Ella: To confront a giant squid, you'd have to venture super far outside the reef.
Ricky: That's exactly what I plan on doing, like Ray and Sammy. Adventure doesn't scare me at all.
Pipo: Well, that's not for anytime soon. We're too little.
Ricky: No! You are too little.
(Ricky swims past his friends, causing Ella and Annabel to both gasps)
Ella: Hmm.
(Ricky swims to the passageway where it leads to the outside of the reef village)
Ricky: Oh. Huh? (He turns around) Huh? Oh. (He swims through the passageway. A crab appears in front of him) Aah! Aah! (Crudd then appears in front of him) Aah!
Crudd: Ha ha ha ha! Works every time.
Glitz: This isn't nowhere for a puny little turtle like you to be.
Ricky: I'm not a puny turtle. I'm going to the bottomless rift. And puny yourself!
(Meanwhile, the Rockfish see Ella, Pipo, and Annabel all show up outside of the shell school)
Glitz: I bet your friend will be back in two minutes.
Babbles: Yeah, he was scared out of his wits just crossing the fault, so all alone in the bottomless rift.
(The Rockfish all swim away while chuckling)
Ella: We have to tell Sammy.
(Later, the three kids have all explained to the adults about what happened to Ricky)
Rita: My little grandson, all alone in the ocean?
Ray: We'll go get him. Don't you worry, my little sugar clam.
Sammy: No, we're not gonna get him. He needs to find out for himself that he's still too little.

Ricky: I'm off on an adventure! Whoo-hoo! (pants) Huh? (He notices a swarm of jellyfish) Where's the village? (He swims up above the surface) Aah! Huh? (He sees the island nearby. Ricky swims back down to the ocean and starts exploring. Just then, one of his flippers get stuck in a nearby seaweed) Oh! Uh... Huh? (Ricky struggles as he tries to get the seaweed off his flipper. The seaweed then comes off, leaving Ricky to laughs) Didn't scare me. (Suddenly, a large shadow looming above him) Huh? (A shark is swimming above him) Albert! Albert? Huh. (Albert appears in front of Ricky, and shows him his "teeth") Teeth. Lots of teeth. It's not Albert! (The shark chases after Ricky) Aaaah! Whoa! (Ricky swims down to hide in the seaweed forest) Uhh! (The shark swims past Ricky, and the turtle swims as fast as possible away from him. Ricky swims back up to above the surface. He sees the island again) If I go back now, they'll make fun of me. (He swims back down, passing the seaweed forest. He then notices a school of sardines) Wow! (Ricky swims past the sardines, but they then start chasing after him. He then notices a nearby coral reef) Oh! (He hides in the coral reef, as the sardines all swim past him) Whew! (A snap is heard behind Ricky. He turns around and screams when he sees Leonard) Whoa! (Ricky swims and hides behind a pile of rocks) Whew! (Suddenly, a sea snake appears out of the pile) Aah! (The sea snake chases after Ricky, causing him to scream. Ricky appears above the surface again and gasps for air) Whew. Ohh. I should never have gone so far. (his voice echoes) I'm completely lost!
(Ricky swims back and sees his shadow on the ocean floor. He then starts hallucinating the Rockfish)
Rockfish halluncinations: (echoing laughter)
Ricky: Huh?
(Ricky turns around and sees that the hallucinations are gone. He groans before swimming again. An Ella hallucination appears, swimming past him)
Ella hallucination: Ricky! Hey, Ricky, where are you?
(Ricky grunts, before he continues to swim. A Pipo hallucination appears in front of him)
Pipo hallucination: Hey, Ricky, where were you? We were looking everywhere.
Ricky: Pipo? (He looks around, but he didn't see the Pipo hallucination)
Annabel hallucination: Whoa! You sure are brave.
(Ricky grunts when he sees the Annabel hallucination before he continues to swim)
Ricky: Pipo? Annabel? Ella? I'll never see them again. (He stops swimming) Oh! The bottomless rift! (He looks down at the rift. Suddenly behind him, Lulu appears with seaweeds on his body) Huh? (Ricky screams when he sees Lulu)
Lulu: Ah, leapin' lobsters! I'm gonna bite you, little turtle!
Ricky: Bite me? I'd sure like to see that...
Lulu: Leaping lobsters. Didn't you know that lobsters are one of the fiercest predators of the sea? Why, with just one of my pincers, I could... (He realizes his seaweed disguise have come off)
Ricky: Tickle me?
Lulu: No, I mean-- I could do that as well, but, uh, where was I?
Ricky: Uh, something about... using your pincers, I think.
Lulu: Ah, yes. Why, thank you, Ricky.
Ricky: Mr. Lulu.
Lulu: No, it's not him! I mean, it's not me. Heh heh.
Ricky: Well, how'd you know my name was Ricky?
Lulu: Ricky? I said Ricky? Uh, no! You're mistaken. Uh...
Ricky: Oh, sorry. I thought you were someone else. In any case, I give up. You win. I'm too scared of you. (He notices Rita, Albert, Ray, and Sammy are hiding behind a large rock) Huh?
Lulu: Really? You're gonna go back home, then?
Ricky: No. I'm heading straight down into the abyss.
Lulu: No! (He groans. Then, Sammy gestures Lulu to do something) But there are terrifying creatures down there. It's dangerous!
Ricky: Doesn't scare me. (He swims down to the rift)
Lulu: No!
Rita: (swims out of hiding) My Ricky! Oh! Ohh. (She looks down at the rift) Oh!
Ella: Come back, Ricky! It was a joke!
Ray: (to Sammy) Bravo. Great idea. (He comforts Rita, who's crying)
(Ricky then appears and swims behind Ray and Rita)
Ricky: Boo! (Ray, Rita, and Ella all scream) Ha ha ha! You should've seen your faces.
Rita: You think that's funny, scaring us like that? And don't stay there, it's dangerous.
Ricky: Perfectly safe. Giant squids never come close to the surface. You mind telling me what you guys are doing here?
Sammy: Let's just say we wanted to see how you would get by... alone.
Ricky: You must've been super-impressed then. I narrowly escaped from an enormous crab, a hideous sea snake, a school of super-angry fish. (The sardine school forms a shape, causing Ricky to gasp) And even a shark with lots of teeth!
(Albert spits out a deep-water fish that's hiding in his mouth)
Albert: Ptoo! (chuckles)
Ricky: So, then it was just...
Sammy: The inhabitants of our reef. Ricky, you have to understand that ocean life is not danger-free. In our reef, you have the opportunity to grow up safe and sound.
Rita: Surrounded by friends who care about you.
Ricky: (groans) You were mocking me! (whimpers)
Ray: Believe me, the day you'll be old enough to go off on an adventure by yourself will be sooner than you expect. And confronting a giant squid is no game. Sammy and I were very lucky to survive that day.
(Everyone all gasp when a real giant squid is behind Ricky)
Pipo: Behind you!
Ricky: Oh, yeah, right. If you think you're gonna fool me again with-- (He turns around and sees the giant squid) Aah!
(The giant squid grabs Ricky by its tentacle)
Ray: (to Sammy) Was this part of the program?
Sammy: No.
(The giant squid squirts ink, causing Sammy and Ray to both groan. Everyone all swims down to rescue Ricky)
Pipo: (to Annabel) I told them it was a bad idea. (He and Annabel both swim down, but they swim back up) Oh, boy, oh, boy. To the left! Watch out! Behind you! More still! Oh, no. Where'd they go? I can no longer see'em! (A thump is heard, and Sammy appears with a grunt. He then swims back down and continues to beat up the squid) Oh, yikes!
(Everyone all swims up and screams, and Lulu follows them, screaming too. Later, everyone is at a safe area)
Ricky: Thanks, you guys. I've never been so scared in my life. That squid sure was big. (Rita kisses Ricky on the cheek)
Ray: All right, now. Shall we go back?
(Ricky swims up and his friends all surround him)
Ricky: Um, yes. But only because you insist.
(Ray pats Ricky's head)
Ella: Anyway, you can't live without me.
Ricky: Ha! Give me a break. (He high-fins Ella)
Annabel: Ricky is back!
(Later at dawn, everyone is swimming back to the reef village)
Pipo: Are we almost there yet? All this adventure has worn me out.
Ricky: Same here, Pipo.
Ray: It's a good thing Sammy knows, right?
Sammy: But I thought you were in charge of navigating.
Rita: No, we said it was Albert and Alpha.
Albert: What? Uh... Alpha! Where's my little pilot fish?
(Nearby, Alpha is seen being chased by a squad of little squids)
Alpha: Watch out, coming through!
(Everyone all laugh in amusement)
Albert: Alpha! Wait for us!
