Scene: Seaweed garden. Ricky, Ella, Pipo, and Annabel are playing tag.
Pipo: (tags Ella) Tag! You're it!
(Ella chases after Ricky)
Ella: Watch out! Here I come! (She follows Ricky who's hiding behind a large rock. She notices a shadow of a shark nearby) Ricky, behind you! A shark!
Ricky: Yeah, right. (sees the shadow) Aah! (Niko appears) Huh? A baby shark.
Ella: How did he get inside the reef? He must be lost.
Ricky: That is so cool!
Ella: Cool? His mother must be looking for him everywhere.
Ricky: He could stay here. I've always dreamed of having my very own baby shark.
Ella: Come on, get real, Ricky. He's going to grow and become a big shark that won't be easy to feed.
Ricky: No, look at Albert. He's a nice shark. And what's more, he eats seaweed.
Ella: But that's not the same thing. He has no more teeth.
Ricky: Here, little baby shark-shark. Come here. Come to Uncle Ricky. (Niko swims away) Whoa!
Ella: You're scaring him. We have to bring him back outside the reef.
Ricky: Don't worry. I'm going to tame him.
Ella: Ricky!
(Ricky swims and rides on Niko, who gets scared and start to swim out of control)
Ricky: Aaah! Woo-hoo!
(Ricky and Ella both scream as Niko accidentally causes Ella to ride along with him)
Pipo and Annabel: Huh?
(Niko swims past them)
Annabel: Ha ha ha! Ella didn't even see us!
(Niko leaps out of the water before he lands back down. Nearby, Eliot is seen talking to a villager.)
Eliot: Yeah, totally.
(Niko accidentally bumps into Eliot as he continues to swim out of controllably, bumping into Jimbo and Billy along the way. Nearby, Ray wakes up from his nap when he hears the commotion outside his habitat)
Ray: Huh? Hmm? Son of a shrimp!
(Niko swims past Lulu who's talking to his clownfish student near the shell school, and he swims to the playground)
Scene: Playground.
(Niko drops both Ella and Ricky before he swims away. Ray arrives)
Ray: (laughs) Hey there, children, that was incredible! Like real-life stunt fish. Did you see Lulu's face when you brushed up against his mustache? Ha ha ha ha!
(Ray, Ricky, and Ella all laugh. Sammy arrives)
Sammy: Ricky, are you all right? The shark didn't bite you?
Ray: Ha ha ha! Sammy, those kids are indestructible.
Sammy: More scared than hurt. I'm not very proud of you children. You could've gotten hurt, or injured that poor baby shark.
Ray: Oh, Sammy, you baby them too much. They were only playing around.
Sammy: Ray, that was very reckless of them.
Ray: Nobody got hurt, did they? Stop being such a killjoy.
Sammy: Maybe if you were just a bit more strict with Ricky, he'd get up into less mischief and not drag Ella along with him.
Ray: Oh, excuse me, Mr. High and Mighty. I forgot that Ella is Little Miss Perfect.
Sammy: Ricky, Ella, that baby shark cannot stay here. Take him back outside the reef.
Ray: Wait a second, Ricky. You know what? You're gonna keep that baby shark. He'll make a swell play companion, no?
Sammy: A shark? With the children? That's a stupid idea, Ray.
Ray: Since it's not one of your ideas, it's stupid, is it?
Ella: Uh, come on, Ricky. Let's go play somewhere else.
Ray: No, Ricky, you're staying with me. And we'll look after the baby shark. Starting from right now, I forbid you to hang out with those know-it-alls.
Ricky: What? But, Grandpa...
Sammy: If that's the way you see it... Ella, come here. Ricky and his family are a bad influence on you anyway. We're leaving.
(Sammy and Ella both swim away)
Ray: Let's go find that poor baby shark.
Scene: Sammy's habitat.
Ella: But, Grandma... Grandpa doesn't want me to play with Ricky ever again.
Shelly: No, no, don't you worry. I bet by tomorrow all will be forgotten.
(The next morning, Ella has wakes up and looks outside the habitat)
Ella: Wow. (notices Ray) Hmm? (sees Ray is placing shells to create a line to divide the reef) Grandpa, Grandma!
(Sammy and Shelly arrive)
Sammy: Oh!
Scene: Palaver tree. Ray is hosting a village meeting.
Ray: Starting today, our village will be divided into two sides. On this side of the line will be the zone where we laugh and have fun. You can do whatever you want without constraints and without killjoys. On the other side is Sammy's no-fun zone... where you gotta be well-behaved and reasonable. In short, boring.
(Sammy arrives)
Sammy: But don't forget, without rules, chaos reigns.
Ray: (mocking) "Without rules, chaos reigns". Give me a break. Come on over to the party side!
Lulu: With Sammy! With Ray! Calm down, you two. I said calm down!
Ray: Hmm.
Alpha: Obviously, Sammy, we'll stay on your side. Isn't that right, Albert? Albert?
Albert: Well, uh... I don't really know. I want to have fun.
Alpha: Uh...
Glitz: We're finally gonna be able to do whatever we want.
Babbles: Yay! No more school! (to Lulu) Good riddance. Pblblblbl! Ha ha ha!
Ray: No, children, you're still be going to school all the same. School's important.
Babbles: Huh? Uh... okay. Well, then, see you tomorrow, Mr. Lulu.
(Nearby, Ricky and Niko both look at Ella who's next to Shelly)
Pipo: (to Annabel) Hey, I think those two are gonna need our help.
(Lulu sighs as he watches Pipo swims to Ricky and Niko while Annabel swims to Ella)
Pipo: So, have you given him a name yet?
Ricky: Niko. Niko the hammerhead shark. I sure wish we could all take care of him together.
Pipo: Don't you worry. We're gonna set up a secret rendezvous with Ella.
Ricky: Really?
(Pipo swims to Annabel and Ella. Pipo whispers his plans to Annabel, who then whispers his plans to Ella. Later, Annabel and Ella are both swimming to the playground. They briefly hide behind a large rock when they see Babbles nearby)
Scene: Playground. Annabel, Ella, Ricky, and Pipo all arrive at the same time.
Ricky: I told my grandpa that I was taking Niko out for a swim. (Niko swims towards Ella and tackles her) Hey, come back here!
Annabel: (laughs) I think he likes you.
Ella: Pipo, don't tell me you're afraid of crossing the line.
Pipo: Uh, no. No. (Annabel pulls him to the other side of the line) Hey!
Ricky: (laughs) It's a good thing we're not gonna let some stupid boundary line ruin our friendship.
Ella: You know, that stupid line, as you call it, was your grandfather's idea.
Annabel: Who's Mommy Annabel's sweet little shark?
(Niko swims away from Annabel, crying)
Ella: Your baby shark needs his mother. He's unhappy here. We should bring him back outside the reef like my grandfather said.
Ricky: No way. By keeping him, we're doing a good deed.
Ella: I thought we were gonna be able to find a solution to reconcile our grandfathers. It would appear you're quite satisfied with the situation.
Ricky: I'm starting to wonder if this whole separation thing isn't a good idea after all. Pipo, let's go. I want to have a little fun... for a change.
(Ricky and Niko both swim away)
Ella: Annabel, it's time to go back. We have homework to do for tomorrow.
Annabel and Pipo: Hmm? Hmm.
Scene: Seaweed garden. The villagers who're on Sammy's side are harvesting the seaweeds.
Margaret: Huh? (sighs) It's much more tiring doing all this work when there are only half of us to help out.
Sammy: Don't lose heart, my friends.
(Margaret sighs)
Scene: Shell school. The students who're on Ray's side are playing a game with Lulu
Lulu: One, two, three! Red light! Babbles, I saw you move! (Babbles groans and he swims back. Lulu walks to the students who're on Sammy's side) Tomorrow we have a test.
(The Rockfish all laugh at the students who're on Sammy's side)
Scene: Reef village. The villagers who're on Ray's side are throwing a very loud party near his habitat.
Eliot: Yippee! Party time! (blows a conch shell)
Crab: Yay!
(Two crabs and a fish villager are playing with their musical instruments made out of shells. The villagers all cheer as they all party very loud)
(Ricky, Niko, and Pipo all swim past Ray)
Ray: What do you say, children? Isn't this fun?
(Ricky watches as Ella swims inside Sammy's habitat and he starts missing her. Suddenly, Babbles arrives and pushes Ricky out of Niko to catch the coin that's been thrown)
Ricky: Ow!
Babbles: (catches the coin) Yippee!
(Ricky groans. Later at night, the party is still going on at Ray's place. But at Sammy's place, Annabel and Ella are studying together)
Ella: Now on to the various species of seaweed. Ascophyllum nodosum.
Annabel: What?
Ella: I said... Ascophyllum-- Ohh, I can't study with all this noise! (Ella swims outside and sees that the party is still going on) Hey, guys! Could you all make a little less noise? We can't concentrate! We have a test tomorrow!
(Ella and Annabel both swim farther away from the two habitats)
Annabel: (sighs) It's more peaceful here.
(Niko is heard crying)
Ella: You--You hear that, Annabel?
Annabel: Yeah. Sounds like he's crying.
(Ella and Annabel both swim to the playground. At Ray's place, Ricky and Pipo are outside)
Pipo: Hey, I'm super-hungry. We should've picked some seaweed as well.
Ricky: Yeah, but we're having way too much fun. Hey, where'd Niko go?
Pipo: Oh, no. I hope he didn't go off to eat his very first fish.
Ricky: Come on, quick. We have to find him. (he and Pipo both swim away from the habitat) Huh? (follows the sound of Niko's crying) There he is!
Scene: Playground. Ella is comforting Niko.
Ella: Everything's gonna be all right, Niko. That-a-boy.
Ricky: Hey, that's my shark!
Annabel: All the noise from the party must be scaring him.
Ricky: My poor little Niko. Are you... unhappy here? (Niko sighs) Oh, we have to let him go. I was selfish. You were right.
Ella: I wasn't very nice to you, either.
(Albert arrives)
Albert: I knew that was a baby shark I heard crying. We adult sharks can hear that from miles around.
Pipo: Why from so far away?
Albert: That way, the mother shark-- (gasps) Can find the little one!
Fish: There's a shark inside the reef!
(The villagers all scream in a panic)
Albert: Oops. I should've been guarding the entrance to the reef instead of playing around.
Ella: Quick, let's go!
Scene: Reef village. Niko's mother is searching for her baby.
Sammy: Everybody spread out quietly and stay hidden.
Ray: On the contrary, everybody group together and make as much noise as possible. That'll scare it away.
Mika: What are we supposed to do?
Sammy: You're going to put everybody into a bind, Ray. Do as I say.
Ray: You can go and hide if you want. We're gonna defend ourselves.
Ella: Ray! Sammy! It's Niko's mother! She only came to get her baby.
(Nearby, Niko's mother growls. But when she sees her baby, he laughs and swims to her)
Ray: Well, then, all's well that--
Sammy, Ray, and the kids: Huh?
Albert: Let me handle this. Dear missus... please forgive us. We just wanted to-- (Niko's mother roars at him) Uh... (swims back to Sammy, Ray, and the kids) She's really angry.
Ella: I have an idea. We have to draw the mother far away from here. But for that, I'm gonna need a little daredevil.
Ricky: At your service.
Ray: All right, but be careful.
Ella: Ricky, you're gonna have to lure the mother outside the reef.
Ricky: Niko! Let's show your mother how fast I taught you to swim!
(Ricky rides onto Niko, and Niko swims to the entranceways to outside the reef. Niko's mother, Sammy, Ray, and the kids all follow them)
Scene: Outside the reef
Ricky: Huh? (Niko's mother charges to him) Ahh!
Ella: Wait, Mrs. Shark. We really are very sorry. But we took in your baby in order to save it. He was lost.
(Niko's mother growls at Ella, but her son comes and cuddles her, calming her down)
Ricky: Farewell, Niko.
Ray: Bravo, children. That was very wise of you.
Sammy: And what liveliness! You were every courageous.
Ray: I hope the mother shark won't ever come back into our reef.
Sammy: I'm sure that her baby will prevent her. Now that we're all back together, I'm sure we'll be able to find a way to protect ourselves.
Ray: That's true. We can solve all our problems with a little bit of wisdom and little bit of wildness. Come on, children. Let's do away with this silly boundary.
(Ray, Sammy, and the kids all cheer)
THE END
