[ Theme Song ]

Scene: Margaret's seaweed garden. The villagers are all harvesting the seaweed.

César: Is that all?
Sammy: Sorry, César, not a very good harvest today. Plus, we have to share with Albert. (The nearby crab workers are placing the seaweeds on a basket)
César: I guess.
Sammy: We could give less to Albert, but if he doesn't get his ration, he gets hungry.
César: Yeah, we all know, how a hungry shark behaves. All right, see you tomorrow. (swims away)
Sammy: Hmm. (Behind Sammy, the kids are swimming towards the seaweed basket. Ricky and Ella both pick it up and carry it to Albert's den) Have a good delivery, children.

Scene: Albert's den. The kids arrive with the basket.

Alpha: Albert, your breakfast is here!
(Ricky and Ella dumps the basket, and Albert chomps on the seaweeds)
Albert: Thank you, children.
Pipo: (to his friends) Okay, well, we gotta go to school now.
Ricky and Ella: (follows Pipo) See ya tomorrow, Albert! Bye, Alpha!
(Nearby, the Rockfish are hiding behind a large rock)
Crudd: Uh, what about us, Glitz? Shouldn't we be going to school, too?
Glitz: I'm fed up with school. (The Rockfish all swim to the passageway to outside the reef) Big Boss has surely got a lot more interesting stuff to teach us.

Scene: Shell school.

Lulu: (to Ricky, Ella, and Pipo) Good morning, children! Welcome! Take your places! As I was saying, the food chain explains how, on land and in the sea, the little animals get eaten by the big ones.

Scene: Big Boss's shipwreck.

Big Boss: (to Philippe who's holding onto a small jellyfish corpse by his mouth) What? Is that all?
Marco: Well, you know how it is, Boss. Fishing is a come-and-go kind of thing.
Philippe: Some days are great, and others not so.
Big Boss: Yeah, maybe. But, you see... I'm hungry! You really think one of those little things is gonna fill up my stomach?
(The Rockfish all show up)
Glitz: Uh, if you're hungry, Mr. Big Boss, sir, there is a solution.
Babbles: Yeah! All you gotta do is go into the village and ask Sammy.
Crudd: He's got a big stock of food that he hands out to everybody, every day.
Big Boss: So, what you're saying is that I, Big Boss, should go begging Sammy for food? Not on your life! He can keep his lousy old stock of food for himself. But say there, my dear children, this stock of food-- you know where it is, right?
Rockfish: Yeah.

Scene: Reef village at night.

(The Rockfish all look out of the corner of the passageway and see Albert sleeping. The Rockfish, Big Boss, and the moray eels all swim out to near the seaweed garden)
Big Boss: Thank you, my little horrors. The day of my big return up upon the throne, I won't forget you.
(Later when morning arrives, the villagers are surprised to see their food supply)
Sammy: Empty? The stock is empty?
Shelly: Well, if we get to work right away, we should be able to have a harvest in about three weeks.
Albert: Three weeks without food? (his stomach rumbles) Ugh!

Scene: Palaver tree. Sammy is hosting a meeting to the villagers.

Sammy: My friends, the situation is serious, but there's no reason we can't get out of this, as long as we stick together. But we have no choice. We must leave the reef and manage to find some food on our own.
Jimbo: Go out into the great, wide sea?
Mika: This is terrible!
Billy: We're not used to fishing anymore!
Villager: What's gonna become of us?
(The villagers all grumble)
Ricky: Don't worry, Sammy. We'll go find something to eat.
Sammy: That's very courageous of you, Ricky. (pats Ricky's head) But this expedition only concerns the adults.

Scene: Outside the shell school. Ricky is meeting up with his friends.

Ricky: It's not fair! Only the big guys ever get to do the dangerous stuff.
Ella: Don't you think the scorpfish are acting kind of strange? They don't seem to be worried at all.
(The Rockfish all passing by them, with Crudd holding a coin)
Annabel: What do you mean?
(The Rockfish are playing the coin toss)
Ella: Well, it's just that they, too, should be worried that they don't have anything to eat.
Pipo: Operation Scorpfish Surveillance?
Ricky: Whoa, an investigation? (high-fins Pipo) Great! That's even better than an expedition.
(The Rockfish are swimming to the passageway again)
Babbles: Say there, Glitz, I'm still kind of hungry. You think we could ask for a sec--
Glitz: Don't go talking about that around here. The walls have ears, if you see what I mean.
(The kids all watch the Rockfish swimming away. Just then, a shadow casts above them. The kids all gasp, but it turns out to be Albert)
Ricky: Albert? Aren't you with the others?
Albert: Ohh, no. I-- I was wondering if-- if there weren't any... emergency reserves. (The Rockfish all swim to the passageway)
Alpha: Albert, there's no reserve stock in sight. (pushes Albert away from the kids) We can change sectors.
Ricky, Ella, Pipo, and Annabel: Whew!
Ella: And the scorpfish are gone as well.

Scene: Outside the reef.

(The villagers are searching for seaweed outside the reef. Sammy is seen holding a basket of seaweeds)
Sammy: Come on, guys, keep up the good work. (notices a battery of barracudas nearby) Watch out! (The battery of barracudas swim pass them) It's getting dangerous. We'd better head back. We'll just make do with the little we have.

Scene: Palaver tree. The villagers all return with their supply.

Ricky: Sammy, we gotta tell you, there's some shady stuff going on around here.
Ella: While you guys were gone, we followed the scorpfish. They're acting suspicious.
Annabel: But that's not all! There's also Albert, who--
(Albert suddenly arrives)
Albert: Something to eat at last! (chomps on the seaweeds Sammy dumps on the tree) Uh, reassure me. That was my portion, right?
(Big Boss, Marco, and Philippe all suddenly arrive)
Big Boss: Why, lookie here. It seems my dear neighbors have got a little problem. So, there, Sammy, runnin' a bit low in the stock reserves? Sounds like bad planning to me. Take me, for example. If I was the village chief, I'd be sure everybody always had enough to eat.
Sammy: I should've known. Big Boss, it's you who stole all our food.
Big Boss: Ohh! You're accusing me? Without any proof?
Sammy: Huh?
Big Boss: All right, I'm willing to give you guys a choice. Either you can keep on going hungry with Sammy, or come knocking on my door. Think about it.
(Big Boss, Marco, and Philippe all swim away)
Ray: It's out of the question that we give in to Big Boss. We're more than just a village. We're like a family. We've got to stick together. Don't you all agree with me?
(Crickets are heard chirping)
Alpha: Albert, you okay?
Albert: Why do you ask? Don't I look it? (closes his mouth on Alpha)
Shelly: (gasps) Spit Alpha back out this instant! (slaps Albert, causing him to spit out Alpha)
Albert: Alpha? Oh, no! What have I done? Sammy, I think I've got a problem here.

Scene: Albert's den. Albert's tail is chained to a rock.

Sammy: Don't worry, Albert. We're gonna bring you back something to eat as soon as possible. You children watch over him, okay? And no matter what he says, don't unchain him. (to the villagers) All right, now, we don't have a choice. We have got to find something to eat.
(The villagers all to the passageway to get outside the reef. Nearby, Big Boss and his moray eels are hiding behind a corner)
Big Boss: Ha ha ha ha! That's right! Try all you like, Sammy, 'cause by tonight, I'll be the new village chief.
(Back to Albert's den, the kids are all watching the shark)
Albert: Ah, it's grumbling, huh? It's true that at first, it's kind of a bother, but you get used to, you'll see. Me? I can't feel nothing anymore! Speaking of which, you guys can unchain me now. I'm practically not even hungry anymore. (Annabel is about to swim over, but Ella stops her) Come on! You're not gonna tell me that you guys are afraid of me. (Alpha shakes his head to Annabel)
Ella: Remember what Sammy said. Um, I think we'd better not, Albert. It's not a very good idea.
Albert: On the contrary, it's an idea that sounds... delicious!
Alpha: (pushes Albert away from Ella) Breathe, Albert, breath. You can control yourself. (The kids all swim away) Think vegetarian. Think of a seaweed salad.
Albert: (starts meditating) Salad, salad, salad, salad! (his stomach rumbles) A fish salad! (He charges to Alpha, but the chains prevent him from moving further. Albert starts chomping)
Ricky: Whoa! We gotta find him something to eat, and fast.
Pipo: Yeah, but how can we do that?
(The kids all notice the Rockfish nearby)
Glitz: Ha ha ha! You are so silly, Crudd!
Ella: Hmm, I've got a little hunch.
(The kids hide behind a rock and spy on the Rockfish. They all follow them to the playground)

Scene: Playground.

Ella: I knew it! The stolen food!
Glitz: And just how do you figure this here food is stolen? Huh, Flippers? 'Cause we're the ones who fished for it.

Scene: Albert's den. Big Boss is taunting Albert.

Big Boss: No need to thank me, Albert. It's only natural. And bon appétit!
(Marco and Philippe both unchain Albert)
Albert: Huh? Huh?
(Albert swims out of the den, causing Alpha to gulp)

Scene: Outside the Playground.

Ricky: That's enough, you stingers. You're gonna tell us what you did with the rest of the food. Otherwise--
Crudd: Otherwise what, little guy?
Alpha: Help!
(Glitz, Crudd, and Ricky all look at Alpha)
Crudd: Huh?
Alpha: Help! Run for your lives! Albert's gone bonkers!
(The Rockfish all swim away, while Ricky swims down to the playground)
Ricky: Huh? (notices a pile of seaweeds) Oh! (tosses the seaweeds to Albert's mouth)
(After Albert ate the seaweeds, the kids all swim away from him. Albert chases the kids around the reef)
Ella: The crab cave, quick!
(The kids all scream as they get inside the crab cave)
Albert: Children, come on out. I'm not going to eat you now. How could I? (The kids, the Rockfish, and Alpha are all inside the cave) You know I really like you guys.
Ella: I don't see how we're going to get out of this. Albert is not going to give up.
Babbles: Uhh! There's lots of food at Big Boss's place. He's the one who stole the whole stock reserve with our help, and he gave us some food in return.
(Glitz and Crudd both glare angrily at Babbles)
Ricky: It's gonna be kind of complicated to get food over there without ending up in his stomach.
Alpha: There is a solution if you do exactly what I tell you to. (He gets out of the cave) Hey, Albert, catch me if you can!
Annabel: Poor Alpha, he's gonna get eaten up!
(Albert chases after Alpha)
Alpha: (to the kids) Hurry up, don't worry about me! (The kids all swim to the passageway) Yoo-hoo! (Albert closes his mouth on Alpha, but he spits him out)

Scene: Big Boss's shipwreck.

Big Boss: Just you wait and see, guys. Thanks to good old Albert, it won't be long now. Nothing like a little predator's instinct to push those fools into making the right decision.
(Unbeknownst to Big Boss, Marco, and Philippe, the kids all grab the stolen food supply and escape)
Philippe: I know, I know.

Scene: Reef village. The villagers all return from outside the reef.

Shelly: Albert! He was set free! Where are the children?
(The villagers all see Albert still chasing Alpha)
Alpha: Yoo-hoo!
Albert: Oof!
(Sammy stops Albert from chasing after Alpha)
Sammy: Albert, I don't believe this. You didn't-- Don't tell you--
Albert: I'm sorry, Sammy. I was just too hungry!
(The kids all show up with two baskets of seaweeds)
Ricky: Don't worry, everything's fine! Albert, dinnertime!
(The kids dump the seaweeds all the ocean floor, and Albert immediately eat them)
Sammy: Look at all this food! Bravo, children. But tell me, where did you find it?
Ricky: It's a long story.

Scene: Big Boss's ship. The villagers arrive at Big Boss's place.

Big Boss: Hey! Well, it's about time. You almost had me waiting.
Sammy: We don't have any choice, Big Boss. If you accept to feed all of us, we'll make you our village chief.
Big Boss: Fine. Seeing how magnanimous I am, I accept your offer. (Sammy chuckles) Where's all my food? Where'd it go?
Sammy: So there, Big Boss, running a little low in the stock reserves?
Albert: Ohh, I'm completely starving. Sorry, Sammy, but I don't think I can contain myself any longer. (to Big Boss) Perhaps I can start with this one as an hors d'oeuvre.
Big Boss: Oh, stop joking around, Sammy! (Albert chases after him) Hold him back! Don't let him eat me! I'll do whatever you want! Have mercy!
(The kids and Sammy all laugh in amusement)
