Scene: Shell school.
Lulu: And, of course, whatever its shape or color, a shell, above all, provides protection for our friends the mollusks.
Glitz: I wouldn't get caught dead living in such an ugly shell like that.
(The Rockfish all laugh)
Lulu: You're quite wrong there, Glitz. (The Rockfish all stop laughing) There exists all kinds of magnificent shells with extraordinary and rare colors.
Ricky: Where's that, Mr. Lulu?
Lulu: Well, unfortunately, you're not allowed to go where they're to be found.
Ricky: Oh, come on. Please, tell us where.
Lulu: Certainly not. If we tell you where, you'll end up going, and that's unacceptable. Especially seeing as the bottomless rift is a far too dangerous place. So, then, where was I?
Ricky: Hmm
Scene: Outside the reef. The kids are swimming to the bottomless rift
Ella: Didn't you hear what Mr. Lulu said? It's forbidden to go.
Ricky: But imagine if we found one of those amazing shells he was telling us about. I'm dying to see what they look like.
Pipo: Personally, I'd rather not get caught by an adult.
Ricky: Right, then, so who wants to stay here and stand guard?
Ella and Pipo: I-- (bump into each other) Ouch!
Annabel: (raises all her tentacles) Ha ha ha ha!
Ricky: Okay. Annabel will make sure nobody's coming.
Ella: Lucky her.
(Ricky, Ella, and Pipo all swim down the rift)
Ricky: Let's go, then. Yah-hoo! Is it normal for it to be so dark down here?
Ella: Do you really think this is such a good idea? You know, because how can we be sure there are any shells down here anyway? And what if we come across a horrible creature?
Ricky: Okay, wait. Ella, could you please stop making so much noise? You're gonna end up causing problems. Please stay focused.
Ella: Oh, all right.
(Ella bumps into Pipo, causing him to collide into Ricky)
Ricky: Ouch! Great. Thanks, Ella.
Ella: Sorry.
(Suddenly the rift starts to rumble)
Pipo: Whoa, what is it now?
Ella: Huh? (a boulder is about to fall down from above)
Ricky: Swim for cover!
(Ricky, Ella, and Pipo all dodge the rocks)
Ella: Whew! That was close.
Ricky: That was close? Is that all you can think of to say? I'll have you know this is all your fault. You-- You're bad luck!
Ella: Hmm? Hey there, I'll have you know that it wasn't my stupid idea to come down here looking for shells. Mm-hmm.
(A giant squid appears behind Ella)
Ricky and Pipo: A squid!
Ella: Huh? (Ricky grabs onto Ella's flipper and they both swim up while screaming) Hey, it's not my fault. It's not my fault! (The kids are all near the top of the rift) So, then, all's well that ends well?
Ricky: Barely.
Ella: In any case, it's a good thing nobody saw us leaving the rift.
(Behind Ella, Sammy, Ray, and Arthur all arrive angry at them)
Ricky: Huh? (facepalms) Ohh.
Sammy: Leaving the rift, huh?
(Annabel camouflages herself)
Ricky: Hey! Hi there. How's it going?
Ray: Ricky.
Sammy: You know very well that going down into the bottomless rift is forbidden.
Ella: That's exactly what I was trying to--
Sammy: Stop, not another word. The two of you are punished.
Arthur: That goes for you, too, Pipo.
(Pipo groans. The kids all follow Sammy, Ray, and Arthur to get back to the reef)
Ricky: (to Ella) All this is your fault. I told you, you're jinxed.
Scene: Reef village
Ella: You're really lucky.
Annabel: Why do you say that?
Ella: Because you're the only one who didn't get punished. In fact, they didn't even see you. Me, on the other hand... And even if I'm not the type to believe in such things, I have to face the truth. Ricky's right. I am jinxed.
Annabel: Whether you're unlucky or not, you're still my friend, you know.
(Above them, a crab is pulling a seaweed that's stuck on a rock. He manages to pull it out, but he accidentally launches himself backward and pushes a bunch of rocks that are about to fall down onto Ella and Annabel)
Ella: Oh, no, not again! Watch out! (Ella holds onto Annabel as she screams. The rocks didn't hit Annabel and Ella at all) I don't believe it!
Annabel: Me, neither. Uh... believe what?
Ella: Those rocks should've crushed us, Annabel, but they didn't even touch us. Not even a scratch, nothing at all. Now, if that's not lucky... Hey, wait a second! I was just next to you when it happened. And what if you were good luck?
Annabel: Huh?
Ella: Come on, let's see if it's true.
(Ella and Annabel both swim away)
Crab: Hmm? Hmm.
(Ella and Annabel watch as Arthur leaves his habitat and bumps into a rock. Ella and Annabel both laugh)
Arthur: Pardon me, ma'am. (swims away)
Annabel: (to Ella) And what do we do now?
Ella: Stay right on Pipo's father's heels. (Annabel swims next to Arthur, causing none of the fish to bump into them) Incredible! It's working!
(Ella pulls Annabel, causing Arthur to bump into a fish)
Arthur: Oops. Excuse me.
Annabel: So?
Ella: So, it's decided. Starting right now, you're gonna stick with me. You'll be my good-luck charm.
Scene: Playground. Ricky is talking to Pipo.
Ricky: Boy, I bet we were so close to the most amazing shells ever.
(Ella and Annabel both arrive)
Ella: Perhaps we could find one somewhere else, no? Why don't we explore the surroundings?
Ricky: Well, sorry, Ella, but I'd never do that with you. You really have to understand, you really are just bad luck.
Ella: Don't worry. My bad luck is gone, so now we can go off on adventures again, since I no longer cause any problems.
Ricky: Uh... what's so different all of a sudden?
(Ella pulls Annabel down and gives her a hug)
Ella: I've become lucky!
(Annabel laughs)
Scene: Somewhere in the reef village. The Rockfish are playing the coin game.
(Ricky, Ella, and Annabel are all hiding behind a large rock watching the Rockfish)
Ella: Watch this. (puts Annabel on top of herself and she swims to where the coin is being tossed) Yay! (grabs the coin)
Babbles: How dare you? You're gonna regret so bad you ever did that.
(The Rockfish all chase after Ella and Annabel, but Ella and Annabel both dodge various obstacles among the way)
Ricky: Not bad. But what does being fast have anything to do with luck?
(Glitz and Crudd appear in front of Ella and Annabel)
Ella: Aah!
(Ella swims up, causing Babbles to collide into Crudd and Glitz. They all scream in surprise. Ella and Annabel both swim to where Ricky is)
Ella: (tosses the coin to Ricky) So, now do you believe me?
Ricky: Hmm.
Scene: Outside the reef. The kids are swimming to Jax who's sleeping near Big Boss's shipwreck.
Ricky: Be careful, Ella. Jax is one crazy fish. Lucky or not, if you aggravate him, you might end up regretting it.
Ella: We'll just see about that.
(Ella places Annabel on top of herself and she swims to grab a seaweed. She uses the seaweed and tickles Jax. Jax sneezes, causing him to turn upside-down and wakes up)
Annabel and Ella: Huh?
(Ella and Annabel both swim away)
Jax: You think that's funny? Aah!
(Jax chases after Annabel and Ella to the shipwreck's anchor chains)
Annabel: I hope you're still lucky as ever!
(Ella and Annabel both swim away before they hit the anchor, causing Jax to bump into it and knock out. Ella and Annabel both swim to Ricky)
Ella: You see? My bad luck has completely disappeared.
Ricky: Hmm. And what if you tried again, but this time without Annabel?
Ella: Wh-what? No. I like having Annabel with me because... I bring her good luck. With me, she's super-safe, that's all.
Annabel: Really? I thought it was the other way around. Hey, I always get everything backwards.
Ricky: I knew it. You keep Annabel right by your side because she brings you good luck.
Ella: What? But not at all. I have no idea what you're talking about.
Annabel: Absolutely. I'm not her lucky charm, I'm her happy charm. It's not the same thing.
Ricky: Then we can go back down into the rift.
(The kids all swim to the rift)
Pipo: And what if the monster's still down there? I'm not so sure a lucky charm will be enough.
Ella: Ricky, you're not considering taking Annabel down there, now, are you? It's too dangerous.
Ricky: If I take her with me, I might be able to find a super-amazing shell without risk.
Annabel: Logically!
Ella: There is no way you're going to run such a risk just because she brings good luck.
Ricky: Oh, because that's not what you did with the scorpfish and Jax maybe?
Ella: I, uh-- But that's not the same.
Ricky: Yeah, right. Well, we're going.
(Ricky pulls Annabel down)
Annabel: Okay.
Ella: No, you're not going.
(Ella pulls onto one of Annabel's tentacles, while Ricky pulls onto another one, causing a tug-of-war)
Ricky: Don't be stupid, Ella. You're not Annabel's mother.
Annabel: Well, that's true.
Ella: No, but, uh... I really need her to stay with me, seeing as I'm so jinxed.
Annabel: That's true as well.
Ricky: Oh, well, look at that. I thought you didn't believe in all that kind of stuff.
Ella: Stop it, Ricky. I met Annabel before you did.
Ricky: That's ridiculous!
Annabel: (laughs) Stop it, that tickles. (a green rock falls down) Oh, gee whiz, my lucky rock.
Ricky, Ella, and Annabel: Ohh!
Ella: Annabel, don't tell me that was the little rock that bringing us good luck.
Annabel: Well, yeah. I guess maybe I should've told you.
(The giant squid arrives)
Pipo: Watch out! It's come back! The sq-sq-sq-- The squid!
(The kids all gasp)
Ricky: All this is once again your fau--
(The squid grabs Ricky and swims away with him. The kids all scream)
Pipo: We gotta do something.
Ella: What are we gonna do, now that we no longer have the lucky charm? What are we gonna do?
Pipo: Ella, calm down. It was just a little old piece of rock. You don't need luck in order to save Ricky.
Annabel: That's true. If you were able to get out of all those traps, it's thanks to your speed and agility.
(The kids all swim down to the squid)
Ella: Hey there, Mr. Squid. Catch me if you can. (the squid swims faster than her) Hey! Is that the best you can do? (the squid starts attacking by using his tentacles, but Ella dodges them) Whoa!
Annabel: Way to go, Ella!
Pipo: Watch out! On your left!
Ella: Don't worry, I got it.
(Ella grabs onto one of the squid's tentacles and ties it around his body, causing the squid to groan and let go of Ricky. The squid sinks down to the bottomless rift)
Ricky: Whoa! You were awesome, Ella! Thanks!
(Ricky hugs Ella, making her chuckle)
Pipo: Uh, shall we go back up now, guys?
(The kids all swim back up to the rift)
Annabel: Even without me, Ella, you did an amazing job.
Pipo: Yeah, bravo. And you see? You didn't need a lucky charm to do it, either.
Ella: Yeah, that's true. All I needed was my friends to be there to help me believe in myself. Thanks, guys.
Pipo: And what about the shell, then?
Ricky: Uh, I thought it over, and I figure it's best right where it is. It would be silly to break it while trying to get it.
Ella: Yeah, that would be most unlucky.
(The kids all laugh)
